Breaking Out of Breaking In is a practical, pragmatic filmmaking and storyteller podcast about taking your creative destiny into your own hands, reframing what it takes and means to “break in” to a fundamentally broken industry, and making work that gets seen without playing the Hollywood game (or at least, while changing the rules). Each episode explores a particular subject interrogated and researched by the hosts to turn an obstacle or limitation into an opportunity for listeners, or a conversation with a guest who shares exactly how they broke out, broke in, or circumvented things entirely to define success for themselves.

Breaking Down the BS of Elevated Horror

Breaking Down the BS of Elevated Horror

Hot take: horror has always been "elevated." Christina, our resident horror expert, takes Bri through the various ways "elevated horror" ignores a genre that's always been socially conscious and laden with metaphor, and recommends some films for folks looking to get nostalgic this spooky season.

Breaking Out of Breaking In Breaks It Down

Bri and Christina are great hosts - thoughtful, intelligent, down to earth - and their show benefits from an expertly curated guest list. They've created some easy-to-listen-to episodes on a range of relevant topics for independent filmmakers and content creators. I love the d.i.y spirit and their dedication to making filmmaking more accessible. Looking forward to more episodes!

Realities of Creating Outside of Mainstream

Bri and Christina are so wonderful to listen to. They share a wealth of knowledge, experience, and stories about their realities filmmaking outside of mainstream with a good dash of social understanding of how different intersections cross and biases impact the industry and craft. Even as a creative in a different medium, I find a lot of these touch points to overlap in other artistic industries. The guests are also super enjoyable and engaging. Thanks for starting this podcast!
